The August Break, Day Twenty-Five

Bumble Bird

My grandfather always called these large moths "bumble birds" because they look like a cross between a bumblebee and a hummingbird. This type of moth is actually referred to colloquially as a "hummingbird moth," and I've narrowed the species down to either Hemaris thysbe or Hemaris gracilis. Any lepidopterists out there in the blogosphere able to help me out?
