The 3-50 Project

What a wonderful idea, and so simple, too! The 3/50 project asks that you support your local, independent brick-and-mortar businesses by spending $50 a month at 3 local businesses you love and would miss if they were gone. Now, I know, $50 a month may be pushing the budget for a lot of people, even for a good cause...but the principle is still the same, even if you're spending less. Every little bit helps when it comes to supporting a business with your patronage, and wouldn't it be sad to see all those wonderful, unique, creative stores go out of business and be replaced by soulless multi-nationals? Every street of every town would look the same, and who wants that?

If you own a brick-and-mortar store and would like to be involved in this, you can sign up on the 3/50 website to be listed as a supporter. If you're an individual or a seller without a physical location, like I am, you can at least get the word out. We talk a lot these days about eating local foods; maybe it's time to start talking about buying local goods, too, whenever possible!
